Happy Anniversary to Me!

Well it's been a whole year since I've started blogging....where has time gone? I wish I had more to show for it. Maybe this year will be different. Since it's my blog's anniversary Happy AnniversaryI'm going to have a little contest. Not sure yet what the contest will be yet, but it will be for some stitch markers (set of 6) and I will get a picture of them posted within the next few days.

Loom Knitting Newbies Group is having a Chemo Hat drive for Bev Q at Bev's Country Cottage and so far 46 loomers have answered Dusty's pied piper call. The hats are all turning out great and here are a couple I made last weekend while I was sick in bed.

My goal is 5 hats by March 26th which I should see since I have 4 done as of today. 3 adult and 1 child.

For Loom Class, I took a baby bonnet class that Pam offered. It turned out cute but since I don't have any little girls needing one I will probably donate it to charity. I couldn't even find a doll to put it on lol The frog doesn't do the bonnet justice I included a side view too because I liked the way the yarn striped. It was also supposed to have pom poms on the ties, but I chose to leave them off.
I made a cell phone tote for an exchange and will post it as soon as I have it all together.
Keep on Looming.

Scrunchies

I finally finished the scrunchies I was working on for my daughter's basketball team. I used the pattern on Off the Looms site. Really easy pattern. I knit 6 rows before turning up. Most of the girls are wearing them. Of course when the team finally wins their first game, I can't be there because I am sick and confined to my bed. I guess I can thank all three of the kids for this crud. Well off to rest some more and knit.

It's a ladybug picnic

For an Valentine exchange I participated in on KKEXnMore
I made these ladybug stitch markers which works on a fine gauge loom or size US5-7 needles. They were a lot of fun and I hope Heather K. likes them. I also crocheted her a ladybug bookmark which I found on the web. This exchange was a lot of fun to do. I am actually thinking of having a similar one on Loom Knitting Exchange for spring. It is great to receive a package in the mail that is made especially for you.

Have a great Valentine's Day and Keep on Loomin'!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentines Day

Hope your day is filled with no calorie treatsChocolate Valentine! I know mine will be as I'm sure my DH won't bring me home anything good. If he does it will be a miracle. We just don't do Valentine's Day in our house.

Well I thought I'd post pics of my finished projects I've made before they get lost or I forget about them. Here are a couple of the things I made for the Kitchen Item Exchange on the Loom Knitting Exchange group. A scrubby for Cyndi V. which I used the pattern from the Canadian Crafter site with tulle around my nylon yarn. And my towel topper which I have made before, but this time I did it with a flat stitch and I can't say I liked the way it turned out very well. I guess I just need to use more pegs, because it really shrunk up. The towel went to Kathleen R. I just hope she likes it.

Here is another dishcloth I made for February on Monthly Dishcloths KAL. I liked they way it turned out. Very valentiney (if that's a word lol) I can hardly wait until the 16th when they post the mid month KAL.

A while back I made a sheep (a very fat sheep, mind you) from Loom Class. This is how it turned out. The kids love to toss it anywhere they can which is great since it is so soft.
Well, I'll post later hopefully with the illusion dishcloth pattern.

Loomed Recorder Case

My daughter had bought some yarn Paton's Be Mine in pink for a baby hat, well it didn't make it to that....I knew she wasn't going to make a hat with it, so I suggested a recorder case since hers was plastic and ripping. She was all for that and now two of her best friends want one and we have the yarn just waiting to be loomed up. I think it took about 3-4 hours to make and that might be a little longer than it really was as I was interrupted a lot.

Here is the pattern:

Loom Knit Recorder Case
copyright 2007 Stephanie McElheran
For personal, non-profit use only

Supplies used:
Small gauge loom with at least 18 pegs
Yarn (bulky weight)
tapestry needle
crochet hook

Stitches and techniques used:
Ewrap
Purl (if using the garter stitch)
decrease

You will be making a flat panel to begin with. This will make the flat bottom. If you are not familiar with a flat bottom check out Crystal's blog. You can make your bottom using a garter stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) or stockinette (knit every row). Garter stitch is easier when you have to attach your side stitches because of the row bumps.

Cast on 9 pegs and knit 1 row, then turn and purl going back 1 row skipping the 1st peg. Do this for 10 rows.

Next you will be bringing up the bottom and placing the loops on the other side of the loom. You piece should look like a hammock hanging. Then pick up the side loops and place them on the remaining empty pegs. At this point, all the pegs should have a loop on them and you are ready to knit in the round.

Knit using the ewrap stitch until the item reaches 13". Now you will need to do a basic bind off of 9 pegs. You should have 10 pegs remaining. You will be knitting a flat panel again. Knit 3 rows of all 10 pegs.

Now we will decrease for the flap. Move the loop on peg 2 to peg 3 move loop on peg 1 to peg 2 which is now empty. Now take the loop on peg 9 and move to peg 8. Then take the loop on peg 10 and move to peg 9 which is now empty. You should have 8 loops on pegs and you have just made a decrease on both ends of the row. Wrap and knit off. Turn skipping the end peg wrap and knit off going back the other way. Continue this pattern until 4 loops (stitches) remain.

Bind off these 4 stitches with a crochet hook. With the last loop remaining on the hook, chain 5 or 6 (big enough to get your button through). Cut yarn and pull through loop. Attach needle and sew to other side of flap. Secure and weave in all loose ends.

Washa, Washa Washa...more dishcloths!

I have been busy looming and knitting away for the last month or so. It was so cold here in the single digits for a week a while back, I thought I was going to lose some of my furry babies (bunnies) it finally warmed up to 32 degrees with sun and no snow!!!! The bunnies seem to like it better too. Now we have finally warmed up to the upper 40s....yea!!!!
.
I knitted a few dishcloths such as the Garterlac it was a lot of fun and not has hard as it looks. You can find the pattern at Criminy Jickets. For the January KAL on Monthly Dishcloths we made a snowflake cloth which was a lot of fun also. I made a couple of loomed cloths too. One was for an exchange for Looming Dishcloth’s 1st Quarter Exchange. It was my attempt at an illusion knit cloth with hearts. I will post the pattern as soon as I can get it written up. I was in such a hurry to get it sent to Janice (the recipient) before the deadline, that I forgot to take a picture of it. She was very kind to take one for me....so this is her picture of my cloth. I also loomed a little log cabin from Melissa’s Knit Dishcloth Patterns.

As you can tell, I really like making dishcloths as they are quick and easy and they are great to use, a lot better than store bought ones IMO.

I have in my head right now a design along the lines of the ballband dishcloth but for the loom. Hopefully I will find some time to work on it and get it posted on my blog.
